Agency sees tourism contributing 6% of Russia’s GDP by 2025
MOSCOW, Mar 6 (PRIME) -- A new tourism program should help the tourism industry contribute 6% to Russia’s gross domestic product (GDP) by 2025, the Federal Tourism Agency’s Head Oleg Safonov said on Tuesday at a parliament session.
“The goal of the program is creation of conditions for efficient development of the tourism sphere with a 70% increase of its contribution to the GDP of the Russian Federation by 2025. Now, the share of tourism in Russia’s GDP stands at 3.49%, but it should reach 5.93% before the end of the (2019–202%) planning period,” he said.
It will be possible to achieve the goal only if tourism develops twice as fast as the Russian economy, he said.
